The Steamfitter Apprentice is an entry-level role designed for individuals looking to start a career in installing and repairing industrial piping systems.
Responsibilities include:
- – Assisting experienced steamfitters in the installation and repair of piping systems for liquids or gases.
- – Learning materials, tools, procedures, and safety protocols through on-the-job and classroom training.
- – Gaining hands-on experience in the mechanical trade and preparing for a career as a journey-level steamfitter.
Skills
- Mechanical Aptitude: Strong mechanical aptitude and an interest in working with pipes, valves, and other mechanical components.
- Physical Fitness: Physical stamina and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces.
- Hand and Power Tools: Proficiency with common hand and power tools used in pipefitting, such as wrenches, pipe cutters, and threading machines.
- Safety Awareness: A commitment to safety protocols and the ability to work with potentially hazardous materials and equipment safely.
- Math Skills: Basic math skills for measuring, cutting, and calculating pipe dimensions.
