The Journey-level Steamfitter is a skilled trade role focused on installing and repairing commercial pipe systems.
Responsibilities include:
- – Install and repair pipes that transport liquids or gases, including layout, cutting, bending, threading, and welding pipe components.
- – Read and interpret technical diagrams to ensure precise installations.
- – Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety and construction specifications.
Skills
- Steamfitting Expertise: Extensive knowledge and experience in steamfitting, including the installation, maintenance, and repair of steam and high-pressure gas systems.
- Licensing and Certification: Possession of appropriate steamfitting licenses or certifications as required by local and state regulations.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics related to steam and gas systems to plan and execute installations accurately.
- Pipefitting: Skill in cutting, threading, and joining pipes of various materials, including steel, copper, and plastic, for high-pressure systems.
- Welding and Brazing: Proficiency in welding and brazing techniques to create secure and leak-free connections in high-pressure systems.
- Safety Compliance: Strict adherence to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment and prevent accidents, especially in high-pressure environments.
- Tools and Equipment: Competence in using specialized steamfitting tools and equipment, such as pipe threading machines and welding equipment.
